Delete inside the app
This is the available self-service route.
- Open Stake and make sure you're signed in.
- Go to Settings (the profile tab).
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, then tap Delete forever.
When the app confirms completion, your Firebase sign-in has been removed and trusted backend cleanup has started. Live Stake database removal normally follows promptly, but an outage can delay it while the cleanup retries. The app also attempts to delete the profile-photo files it captured before removing sign-in. There is no undo and no grace period once removal succeeds. Some other uploaded files are not yet covered; see the limitation below.
Delete without the app
Email support@getstake.today with the subject Delete my Stake account. You do not need to reinstall Stake to make this request.
- Send the request from the email address registered to your account, where possible.
- Include your Stake username if you know it. Never send your password or sign-in code.
- If you no longer control that email address, tell us. We may need further information to confirm account ownership before removing data.
The data and uploaded-file limitations below also apply to deletion requests sent by email. The separate child-safety inbox is reserved for child-safety reports.
What gets deleted
The flow removes the following live records and sign-in data:
- Your account and sign-in — your Stake account record and your Firebase Authentication user, including your email address and password hash.
- Your profile — name, birth date, gender, orientation, height, city, bio, and your discovery preferences.
- Your profile-photo records — the records pointing at your photos. The app separately makes a best-effort attempt to delete the profile-photo files whose URLs it captured before the wipe.
- Your prompt and duet answers.
- Likes and passes — every one you sent and every one you received, along with the comments attached to them.
- Matches, conversations, messages, and attachment records — every match you're part of is torn down, and its database records are deleted for both people.
- Your wallet — credit balance and full transaction history.
- Verification records — your verification submission record and any verified badge.
- Blocks — in both directions.
- Reports filed about you, and any open moderation case.
- Notification settings and your push token, plus your daily like counter and read receipts.
What we keep
Uploaded-file deletion is incomplete
Account deletion does not currently guarantee removal of every object in Firebase Storage. Chat-media files and verification uploads can remain after their database records are removed, and profile-photo file deletion is best-effort. Broader uploaded-file deletion is not available in this build. Treat uploaded-file deletion as incomplete until that gap is fixed.
Reports you filed
- Reports you made about other people are kept — detached from your deleted profile — because deleting an account shouldn't wipe the safety record of the person who was reported.
Records we're required to keep
- A minimal purchase ledger (store, order, product, credits, and the former service identity) for fraud prevention, duplicate-grant protection, accounting, and legal retention.
- A minimal ban record, where keeping it is necessary to stop the same Stake identity from reconnecting. A different account is not automatically recognized as the same person.
- A minimal deletion marker containing only the former service identity and deletion time. It prevents that deleted identity from reconnecting and repeatedly claiming new-account credits; it does not contain the profile, email address, or messages.
- A minimal Firebase user-ID deletion marker and deletion time. It prevents a delayed connection or reuse of the same provider ID from recreating a deleted account; it does not contain the email address, password, profile, or messages.
Residual copies can also persist in our providers' routine backups and server logs and age out on those providers' own rolling schedules.
Credits and purchases
Unused credits are forfeited when your account is deleted. They have no cash value and can't be refunded or transferred, so spend anything you care about first.
Deleting your Stake account does not cancel or refund a purchase made through Google Play or the App Store. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy — request one there.
How long it takes
- In the app — the confirmed flow removes the Firebase sign-in and starts trusted backend cleanup. Live database records normally disappear promptly, but cleanup can finish later and retry after an outage. Profile-photo file deletion is best-effort, and chat-media and verification files are not guaranteed to be removed.
- By email: send your request to the support address above. Account ownership must be confirmed before removal. This page does not promise an automatic response or completion time.
Deleting only some data
You don't have to delete everything to stop being seen. Inside the app you can remove individual photos or prompt answers, edit any field on your profile, unmatch or block someone, or turn discoverability off — which takes you out of Discover entirely while keeping your account.
